What, little old me?

About this guy

Benoit Rajalu

Hey! My name is Benoit Rajalu, I'm a frontend engineer working mostly in React environments. My focus is on user experience and I'm currently design system manager.

The things I've done

Work history

  • Since 2025

Design System Manager at BlaBlaCar, Paris (remote)

I have inherited Pixar, our company's design system, and I am now responsible for its evolution. Without a dedicated team, my role is to coordinate with designers, engineers and product leads constently to ensure our design system always fits our needs. My engineering skills remain useful to provide both technical guidance and develop tools for Figma and Storybook.

  • 2022 - 2025

Senior Frontend Engineer at BlaBlaCar, Paris (remote)

Working within a full-stack squad dedicated to the Search scope of our OTA product, I contributed to some of our new features. I also had the chance to lead the ambitious redesign of our scope while providing cost-effective refactoring strategies.

  • 2021 - 2022

Design System Engineer at Talend, Nantes

Part of a cross-functional team, I helped lead, maintain, and promote Talend's design system. Still working in React and TypeScript, but with a strong focus on documentation and design tokens.

  • 2018 - 2021

    Frontend Engineer at iAdvize, Nantes

React, Redux, Redux-saga, TypeScript, and functional programming. I was the UI developer embedded in teams: while others focused on logic, I focused on the interface.

  • 2016 - 2018

    UX Developer at PMM, Paris

Worked in a duo at a now-defunct studio. I handled wireframes, interaction design, and responsive CSS/HTML integration in a Twig environment and at a very fast pace.

  • 2012 - 2016

    Freelance, Agency & Startup Roles

Lots of HTML/CSS/jQuery, many Wordpress sites with ACF and Twig, and sometimes web design. The freelance classics: tight deadlines and vague briefs.

  • Before 2012

    Communication & Journalism

Before the web, my first job was writing and editing. Still useful today for contributing to documentation or tech articles.
